A Brief Biography of Hedina Sijerčić

Hedina Sijerčić was born in 1960. November 11th in Sarajevo, in present-day Bosna i Hercegovina. She is a graduate journalist and teacher. She organized and hosted Romani programs for the Radio-TV station in Sarajevo and worked as an activist for The International Romani Union. Later, in Canada, she was the Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian-Romani newsletter, Romano Lil from 1998 to 2001.

Ms. Sijerčić joins Magoria Books with her recently published poetry collection, "Dukh — Pain", described by Ronald Lee, sessional instructor in Romani studies at the University of Toronto, as "an example of Romani poetry which speaks of the tragedy facing the Roma" and "a valuable piece of [Romani] cultural heritage".
